SKITTLES MATH FUN

Grab a bag of Skittles and let the fun begin!

After sorting, we counted the skittles in each circle & wrote the amount next to it. See example below.

If more than 10, eat the extra! A yummy treat for working hard.
While looking at page 1 results, we colored the numbers (far left bold) on the graph that color. An example, would be if there were 5 yellow Skittles, we colored the number 5 yellow. After graphing each color, she would then check her answer by moving her finger left & hopefully her highest block would match the colored number (far left). See example below.

Color in the skittles for numbers 1-2. For numbers 3-5 your child can draw a skittle in the correct colors or write out the color name.

After we made a pattern, we reviewed it by coloring in the boxes the same color as the skittles we used. See example below.

FUN & EDIBLE ACTIVITY

For counting by 5’s we started by counting on one hand to see how many set of 5 we needed. Example- 20, need 4 sets of 5, so we made 4 piles with 5 in each. This made it a lot easier and not overwhelming.

You can limit the amount of cereal you use, to make activities go faster. I recommend not doing all of the activities at one time, kids will lose patience/focus too easily by the end.

The best part is you get a snack once you complete the activities as a reward!

SILLY PLAY DOUGH FACES

My daughter loved this activity- you can be as silly as you want. You can get outlet covers at Dollar tree too!

We cut out some of our drawings and then colored the outlet cover with a sharpie (background). For inspiration we used google images. If you want your drawings to be more permanent, apply a coat of Mod Podge once complete.

RAIN CLOUD IN A JAR

This activity and the Puddle Jumping activity go great along with Scholastic At Home’s rain themed lesson.

Since we have had so much rain lately, might as well make it fun inside & learn about it.

Example of our rain cloud in a jar:

STRAWBERRY SPRINKLE MUFFINS

Super easy-kid approved muffins! I like to make muffins and then freeze them. We pop some out once a week and then they are still special instead of eating them all at once for a few days. These are “semi” healthy. For less sugar, use unsweetened applesauce.

You can use any cake mix. If you use white, you can add food coloring to make more fun.

Great recipe for kids to help make, since few ingredients. My daughter put all of the ingredients in the mixer, then helped put the batter in muffin cups, and of course helped with putting sprinkles on top! Enjoy!

POTATO LADYBUG PRINTS

So many fun ways to combine potatoes with art work- this is just one of them. Potatoes make great stamps.

If additional time, cut out the ladybugs and then create a new piece of artwork(background) for them to be glued onto. You could also glue a magnet on the back & give as a gift (or keep)!

PUDDLE JUMPING FUN

This is a great review game- letters, numbers, sight words, vocabulary words and more..
*Could do outside and draw the puddles with chalk too.
